This town is a hotbed of clubs and bars for après-ski fun. The ultimate is Club de Jazz des 5 Rues, 19 passage de Cinq Rues (tel. 04-50-91-90-69), a rendezvous for such jazz notables as Claude Luter and Claude Bolling; it's open only during the peak winter season. Le Casino, 115 av. Charles-Feige (tel. 04-50-93-01-83; www.casino-megeve.com), is a small, sedate casino -- although you can still lose lots of money here. Most vacationers bypass the gaming tables and head for the disco immediately across the street, Palo Alto (tel. 04-50-91-82-58; www.palo-alto.fr). On the street level, you'll find a restaurant and music that management loosely advises is for persons ages 25 and older; upstairs, the louder and more frenetic scene is recommended for 18- to 25-year-olds. There's no cover charge in either room, but a beer will cost 15€.

The underground Les Caves de Megève, rue Amboise Martin (tel. 04-50-21-30-11), located at the end of an impossibly narrow staircase, is small and cozy, with a small dance floor. A French celebrity might make a highly theatrical appearance at any minute. There's no cover, but drinks cost 13€ to 21€.
