Getting There -- Air France serves Geneva's Cointrin Airport (tel. 022/717-71-11). There's bus service four times a day directly to Megève, 69km (43 miles) southeast of the airport. Many visitors come by train. Get off at Sallanches, 13km (8 miles) away. From Sallanches, three to six buses a day make the trip to Megève at a cost of 7€. The train journey from Paris (one-way fare: 75€-83€) to Megève is faster on weekends, when the TGV travels directly to Sallanches, taking about 5 1/2 hours. Monday to Friday, the TGV goes only as far as Annecy, after which travelers transfer onto slower trains to Sallanches. Total trip time is around 7 1/2 hours. Buses serve the Autogare SNCF (also known as the Gare Routière de Megève), beside the highway running to the town center.

If you're driving to Megève from Paris, take A6 southeast to Mâcon, connect to A40 east to St-Gervais, and follow N212 south straight into Megève.

Warning: Winter driving conditions can be perilous. Make sure your car has snow tires and chains.
