Art Gallery of Ballarat
This excellent gallery, founded in 1884, is Australia’s oldest regional gallery and houses a fine collection of Australian art, including paintings from the Heidelberg School and a stunning collection of 20th-century modernists. It also hosts interesting contemporary exhibitions on popular themes. Free guided tours are run at 2pm Wednesday to Sunday.
