This city, so rich in barbecue, wings, and fried chicken, isn't rife with white-linen dining, which is what makes Andrew Michael all the more special. While the restaurant may not be that fancy by bigger cities' standards, the fresh produce, meats, and cheeses from local farms and food purveyors keep the locals coming back. Be sure to try one of the handmade potato gnocchi, ravioli, and other specialty pastas. The rest of the menu is a mix of seafood (like calamari and butterfish) and game (such as rabbit dressed up with celery root, apples, pancetta, Brussels sprouts, and shiitakes). There's a great patio out back for those warmer nights, as well as a full bar. On the last Monday of every month, diners are invited to "No Menu Mondays," a four-course journey through whatever's in season that has optional wine pairings.
