Local's original downtown branch was so popular that it was able to open this second location in Midtown at the end of 2012. It's every bit as hopping as the original: the burgers and drinks are well loved, as is the outdoor patio and convivial atmosphere. Duck quesadillas, lobster mac-and-cheese, chorizo chili, Thai noodle steak salad, goat cheese and crab enchiladas, bahn mi (Vietnamese-style sandwiches), and a daily grilled-cheese special round out the eclectic offerings. The cocktails are seriously tasty: the Bee Sting, for one, combines Brandon’s gin, honey syrup, fresh lemon juice, Fever-Tree bitter lemon, and lemon soda. The original Local is at 95 S. Main St., but I prefer the Midtown outpost for its more vibrant neighborhood surroundings. Local has a great happy hour from 4 to 7pm on weekdays, as well as additional specials many other nights of the week.
