Owned by the creative folks behind Italy’s Diesel Jeans company, the recently renovated, playful Pelican features 32 rooms and suites meant to look like surrealistic movie sets inspired by classic cinema with kitschy themes like “Lust in Space” and “Going Bananas.” For fashion fans, “Old Glory” is not necessarily a movie tribute but one paying homage to the owners’ roots as it’s decked out completely in denim! Rooms all have organic mattresses (made in Italy, of course) and vintage Art Deco antiques, art, and furniture. The party central Ocean Drive location and the hotel’s sold Italian cafe make the Pelican a very popular people-watching spot.  Rates include complimentary mini bar and two cocktails daily. While there’s no pool here, the ocean is literally across the street. Pets incur a $100 cleaning fee and $25 daily lodging fee.
