Getting There -- Because Millstatt has no train connections, most travelers take a train to Spittal an der Drau from Klagenfurt (trip time: 1 hr.) or Salzburg (trip time: 2 hr.). (On many maps and timetables, this railway junction is referred to as Spittal-Millstattersee.) From Spittal's railway station, passengers catch one of the buses that depart around 16 times a day for the 20-minute trip to Millstatt am See.

Millstatt is 299km (186 miles) southwest of Vienna and 90km (56 miles) west of Klagenfurt. To drive here from Villach, head northwest along the A10, bypassing Spittal. At the turnoff for Seeboden, head east along the northern perimeter of the lake, following Route 98.

Visitor Information -- The tourist office in the village center (tel. 04766/2022) is open daily 9am to 7pm.
