This hotel, located just a few hundred feet from Loring Park, underwent $25 million in renovations in 2013. While all of the guestrooms were redone, the details and touches can be best noticed in the expansive lobby area, which now has a modish mid-century Scandinavian feel, with nods to Minnesota's heritage like a stone fireplace surrounded by a clutch of wooden logs. There are six types of rooms here, including an executive suite that is perfect for larger parties, as it includes a pullout sofa sleeper. The rooms have been redone to include rather elegant black and white photographs of Minneapolis, which adds a bit of local context and culture. If you show up in one of the colder months, you'll want to check out the indoor heated pool. The Hyatt has also rebooted its on-property restaurant, the Prairie Kitchen and Bar, to feature more locally sourced entrées and 12 local beers on tap.
