Giving the lie to "you get what you pay for" America's Best Value truly is a very good value, with rooms that are spotlessly clean and comfortable. The beds are quite comfortable, each room includes a fridge and microwave, and the furnishings are sturdy, if massed produced. Best of all: since the hotel was slotted into an old motel, built before the city started restricting water usage, the heated pool here is bigger than you'll find in other parts of Monterey and it's sided by a large hot tub. We'd say the only downside to staying here is the noise which comes less from other guests than from an overly chatty maid staff, who like to start early in the morning, and yell to one another, room to room, as they work. A simple, free breakfast is included with the cost of a nights' stay.
