The Abrego opened in 2009, just in time for it to hop on the Mid-Century Modern craze. It does a good job evoking the "Mad Men" era, with cushy rooms that are decorated in a symphony of soothing browns and rusts, featuring funky wooden lamps, modern but evocative furnishings (chaise lounges in some rooms), fireplaces and VERY comfortable beds. Because the Abrego took over the space of a pre-water saving era motel, it boasts a good-sized pool out back, along with a jacuzzi. The on-site restaurant is small but good (try the breakfast burrito), there's also a fine gym and business center. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the staff, who are among the most friendly and helpful on the California Coast.
