The oldest restaurant in Montpellier, founded in 1835, delights locals and visitors with its lovely riverside position on the banks of the Lez. This one-star Michelin restaurant is light and spacious inside with pale grey and white furnishings and has a large terrace for summer dining directly overlooking the gently flowing river. Passionate about local ingredients, chef Charles Fontès produces imaginative cooking. Start with the likes of roast scallops with beetroot carpaccio then take in sole menunière with cauliflower in curry sauce. Desserts are superb; try the lemon ice cream scented with rosemary coming in a lemon shell.
