Formerly a fire station, this 1903 building at Place d’Youville is now a well-run museum chronicling the history of Montréal. It includes a permanent exhibit that covers Montréal’s beginnings in the 16th-century all the way through to the modern day. You’ll learn about the native people who first inhabited the region, the effect of European settlement, and how the city continues to advance while still looking back to its storied past. There’s also a well-curated collection of domestic artifacts spanning the 20th-century through today.
