The modest little Dauphin tries so hard and succeeds so well. It attracts both business people on a budget—it’s right next door to the convention center—and families. The modest breakfast room where the free continental breakfast is served has a kind of genial hostel feeling. All rooms are the same size, but with different bed configurations. A few have 2 beds, about a quarter have kings, and the rest have queens. There are 4 junior suites. Rooms are simple, but still modern (think Ikea), and kept in tip-top shape. The location is generally quiet except nights when there are big festivals at the convention center, and it’s about a 15-minute walk to Vieux-Montréal in one direction and the Quartier des Spectacles in the other. Because so many guests are single travelers, listed prices are for one guest, with a second guest for an additional C$10 per night.
