With the same chef as the esteemed Europea, this “Bistro Gourmand par Europea” offers similarly spectacular food, but with a less over-the-top service experience (and at a more relaxed price). Great mains include homemade cavatelli with pesto and a panko-crusted poached egg, fish and chips, and a “ratatouille lasagna” that playfully fuses the French vegetable stew with an Italian twist. Big picture windows look down the street towards Basilique-Cathédrale Marie-Reine-du-Monde, a cathedral that is a copy of Rome’s St. Peter’s Basilica. The location north of the Convention Center and Vieux-Montréal and east of downtown is not likely next to anything you’d be visiting, but it’s an easy 15-minute walk from the heart of both downtown and Vieux-Montréal.
