Slowly and surely this little ice cream joint has been taking over Montréal. The more artful and fitting term for it is an artisan glacier, and it’s the real deal of handmade ice cream and sorbet, with no powder flavor additives. This Outrement location is the original and out of the typical tourist’s geographic reach, but there are now six additional storefronts, including one on Plateau Mont-Royal at 1600 Laurier east ([tel] 514/439-6501). But let’s get to the good part: the flavors. Maple taffy, honey-lavender, cassis sorbet (seedless) raspberry, and moka-fouilli (chocolate and coffee ice cream with bits of salty caramel crunch), to name a few. Bilboquet ice cream is also served in select restaurants and kiosks in the heart of Vieux-Port in warm months. All ages adore these treats.
