The Cascade Dining Room in Timberline Lodge is the best restaurant on Mount Hood. It does not have a view, however, and dinner here can be quite expensive (try it at lunch instead). In keeping with the times, the restaurant now tries to be as much “farm to table” as possible, and also uses only locally sourced meats and poultry. The menu is also seasonal. If morel mushrooms are available, definitely try them. Country ham, beef tartare and bison steak are also highly recommended, and there is always fresh fish on the menu. Vegetarian dishes, like the lentil field roast, are available. Some selections are a bit too complicated, but the overall cooking skill here is quite high.
