The restaurant-bar on Timberline’s mezzanine level has the big-window mountain view that the Cascade Dining Room lacks, so naturally everyone wants to come here to sit and stare at the snowpack. The experience doesn’t suffer when you add signature cheese fondue and a glass of wine, or a pint of microbrew produced at Mt. Hood Brewing just down the road. There are other all-day, anytime choices, too, like delicious clam chowder, charcuterie from Olympic Provisions (a top purveyor in Portland), and artisan cheeses that aren’t in a fondue pot. The scene is relaxed and fun and always busy on weekends.
