Getting There
From San Francisco, take I-80 to I-505 to I-5 to Redding. From the coast, pick up Hwy. 299 East north of Arcata, to Redding.
Redding Municipal Airport, 6751 Woodrum Circle (tel. 530/224-4320), is serviced by United Express (tel. 800/241-6522; www.united.com) and Horizon Air (tel. 800/252-7522; horizonair.alaskaair.com). Amtrak (tel. 800/USA-RAIL [872-7245]) stops in Dunsmuir and Redding.
Shasta vs. Mount Shasta -- Don't confuse the old mining town Shasta, a few miles west of Redding, with the much larger community Mount Shasta, a major tourist destination on I-5, near the base of Mount Shasta.
