On a sunny southern plateau above Innsbruck, Mutters -- often called "the most beautiful village in Tyrol" -- is just 10km (6 1/2 miles) southwest of Innsbruck. You can drive to the center of the city from here in about 15 minutes along Mutters Strasse.
Mutters is in the skiing and recreation area of the Mutterer Alm and the Axamer Lizum, which were the central bases for the 1964 and 1976 Olympic Winter Games. Mutterer Alm is the place for easygoing skiers. It can be reached by cableway.
