Joe’s is a classic crab shack, with a cozy all-wood interior lined with fishing paraphernalia, real fireplace, and the Raccoon Cove Deck Bar out back, overlooking a saltwater marsh. Though it does seafood, this is another spot that excels at steaks, with the signature 6-ounce filet mignon melt-in-your-mouth good. It also knocks out scrumptious lamb chops, an unusually large range of veal dishes, and plenty of local specials, including the Southern-tradition trout, stuffed with crabmeat and coated in cornmeal, shrimp and grits, and Lowcountry-style crab cakes, served with a spicy black bean cake and hollandaise sauce. Check out the early-bird special Sunday to Thursday between 5 and 6pm for substantial savings.
