Nancy City Pass & Passe-Musée — The Nancy City Pass is perfect for active travelers who want to thoroughly explore the city on foot, bike, and public transit. It’s available at the tourist office and costs 16€ per person and includes a guide booklet, a 24-hr. transit pass, an audioguide for the city (or a guided tour, but only offered in French), and 50 percent discount off the city’s VelOstan bike-share system (see below). Museum-goers will also want to get the Passe-Musée which allows you free entrance into the six museums in town, all for a net price of 15€ per person. You can acquire the pass at any participating museum. Note: Many museums are free on the first Sunday of the month.

Special Events — Serious jazz lovers come to town for two weeks in October to attend Jazz Pulsations (www.nancyjazzpulsations.com; tel. 03-83-35-40-86). Some kind of performance takes place every night around sundown in a tent in the Parc de la Pépinière, a very short walk from the place Stanislas. Some performances are free, others charge varying rates from 10€ to 35€.
