In 1806 Captain Archaelus Hammond, considered the first man from Nantucket to kill a sperm whale in the Pacific Ocean, built the building that now houses the Anchor Inn, and it still has the old floorboards and antique paneling from days gone by. The rooms, each named after a whaling ship, are simple, and some are smallish, but for authentic Nantucket feel and hospitality, this inn can’t be beat.
