If you can swing the hefty nightly room rate and the 4-night minimum stay, this beachfront property is the ultimate place to stay on Nantucket. The name “beach club” is apt, because when you walk into the unpretentious lobby, you feel like you are entering an old-money private club, one where the fresh-faced staff acts genuinely glad to see you. The on-site restaurant, Galley Beach, is one of the island’s best, and all the amenities, from the health club to the in-room extras are top-notch. But the biggest selling point is the beach. Get one of the Beach Club rooms, with private decks right on the sand. They cost a little more but are worth it. Better yet, reserve slightly off-season, in May or October, to get a much better rate for the same room. Then just cross your fingers on the weather.
