Foodie friends have said they would like to have every meal at this funky diner. Some seating is right at the counter: The food is cooked right behind it, for all to see—and even better, to smell. Breakfasts of huevos ranchos or Pennsylvania Dutch buttermilk pancakes with Jarlsberg cheese will leave you so full that you might want to skip lunch and can arrive early for dinner. At that hour, you might have your choice of tandoori salmon with mango coulis; beef tenderloin in red wine sauce with rigatoni; or paprika-dusted diver scallops with a lemon-Madeira demi-glace and kale risotto. Note that the diner’s cash only; there’s an ATM not far away on Centre Street. It’s also BYOB: A liquor store is a few blocks away, on Main Street. Finally, they don’t take reservations, so that the line out the door. A typical wait in season is an hour.
