Continuing the Napa parade of chefs you watch on TV, this shockingly large, industrial-chic restaurant is the offering of Masaharu Morimoto of Iron Chef fame. No mere vanity project, Morimoto calls this his flagship, and the food certainly is worthy of that moniker. It can be hard to decide what to order—the menu is very extensive—but specials include tofu made fresh tableside, creative sushi offerings, and salads crafted from ingredients freshly picked on nearby farms. I tend to have the best experience ordering from the appetizers, but, if you’re adventurous and well-funded, you may want to put your fate in the chef’s hands and opt for the $120 omakase tasting menu. Along with 200 sakes, Morimoto serves a fine selection of wines from nearby vineyards. Late-night diners rejoice: The dining room stays open until 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday, while the lounge stays open a good hour later.
