Location, location, location. And a big pool. This large property has that, plus good service, and even better history. The formal lobby makes an impressive first impression right off the bat, and rooms were fully renovated in 2013, so the decor is fresh (if still standard nouveau hotel); and bathrooms are sexied up in black marble. The smallest rooms are a tad tight; the bi-level loft suites with Bourbon-facing balconies are ideal for party people (participants and spectators) but too noisy for others. Long hallways mean you might be walking your muffuletta off—for some that’s a plus (otherwise, request elevator proximity). Recent improvements to the Bourbon O bar are a plus.
