Location, location, location—you really can't ask for a better one smack in the middle of the French Quarter. And a big pool. This large, bustling property has those plus good service, and even better history (ask the concierge for some background). The formal lobby makes an impressive first impression. Room decor is reasonably fresh thanks to frequent updates (if still standard nouveau hotel); bathrooms are sexied-up in black marble. The smallest rooms are a tad tight; the bi-level loft suites with Bourbon-facing balconies are ideal for party people but maybe too noisy for others. Long hallways mean you might be walking your muffuletta off—for some that’s a plus (otherwise, request elevator proximity). The Bourbon O bar has live jazz daily and a super cocktail list.
