The hulking exterior of this 2017 newbie doesn’t even offer a nod to its historic locale, but like many good things, the enticements are on the inside. This one also happens to be well-situated on the edge of the French Quarter, along the Rampart streetcar line (an older Homewood Suites is in the Warehouse District) Like its Homewood brethren, the one- and two-bedroom suites have a functioning kitchen and a parlor area (with sofa bed) separate from the bedroom, and rates include an ample full breakfast buffet daily plus light cocktails and food Monday to Thursday evenings. This one squeezes in a slender pool, putting green, and even a BBQ grill between its two elongated buildings, and hips up the lobby with a sleek fireplace, wood board games and a pool table. Room decor is freshly contemporary if simple; the few balcony rooms don’t offer much worth paying more for. A third-floor room facing Rampart Street is the best bet for a wee bit of rooftop and downtown views, but those facing the courtyard may be quieter if the pool is not party central.
