This boutique inn on the Tremé side of Rampart Street offers French Quarter proximity at reasonable rates and pleasantly authentic ambience. They’ve worked hard to raise their standards over the past few years, and it shows, including upgrading the hotel-generic room furnishings (though there’s still work to do—starting with bathroom updates). Two multi-hued, low-ceilinged buildings are joined by a courtyard and goodly expanse of pool (which the breakfast room overlooks, and a sister property—the French Quarter Suites—shares). We’re partial to the carriage-house rooms, with wood floors, exposed brick, and shutters—though a nearby laundry station means much staff scurrying about. Interior rooms fare best; those facing Rampart suffer from traffic and streetcar noise. Deep discounts and self-serve breakfast waffles add guest appeal.
