If you’re planning to spend a lot of time sightseeing, this is a good choice for French Quarter lodging, especially given the relatively good rates (which include basic continental breaskast). You’re a hop-skip from both Jackson Square and Café du Monde, and it’s hard to have a care when you’re lounging around an amoeba-shaped pool shaded by palm trees. But if your vacation includes much lolling in plush rooms and you live for light-filled mornings, this may not be for you. Several buildings are knitted together by brick hallways and awfully pretty, awfully vieux courtyards. Rooms and bathrooms, while perfectly serviceable, are showing their age a bit (bathrooms, too). Some rooms are dark or windowless, even, but a few splendid ones have terraces with a Jackson Square corner view.
