It’s cute and convenient (right on the corner of Jackson Square) and serves well-prepared, “regular” food that kids and grown-ups will like (pancakes, good burgers, and an old-fashioned soda fountain serving homemade ice cream). So naturally it’s popular as all get-out; try to go during off-peak hours. The takeout shop next door has coffee, ice cream, and ready-made sandwiches to go, which is awfully convenient. But if you choose the sit-down restaurant, the cornmeal-crusted oyster po’ boy is a good way to go. For breakfast (served all day), those oysters come Benedict style, with poached eggs and hollandaise. Yum.
