Balcony House
This landmark house's original design exemplifies late-18th-century Southeast American architecture. The pink two-story structure is named for its overhanging and much-photographed balcony. Restored in the 1990s, the house has been returned to its original design, recapturing a historic period. The mahogany staircase inside is thought to have been salvaged from a wrecked ship in the 1800s. At press time, the house was closed for renovations, but might be open by the time of your visit. Call in advance before you go.
