A luxury room in downtown Nassau that also has a private beach? That’s the Colonial Hilton, where you can sit on the sand under a waving palms and watch the massive cruise ships down just to the right and the lighthouse at the end of the long arm of Paradise Island known as Colonial Beach directly across the water.
Of course, being at the downtown cruise terminal means the water at that beach isn’t really for swimming (there’s a pool for that) or snorkeling, but if you want to be walking distance from the downtown attractions or are here on business—it’s a good, if pricey, bet.
The decor is standard Hilton: Perfectly nice, contemporary furnishings designed by some central decorator, so there’s no hint you are in a tropical location as opposed to, say Chicago. Definitely spring for the harbor-view rooms, which only cost about $20–$40 more than those with a city view.
