Badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy, the South Street Seaport and its museum are still in the midst of a multi-year renovation. I'd say the only reason to come down here in 2019/2020 is for the daily tours of the historic sailing vessels the museum has moored off Pier 16 (it owns six and many go for daily sails; ask). Other than that, the Museum has been reduced to a "ye olde printing shoppe", some walking tours, and an alcove with wall text on the area.
