Yes, this hotel is an homage to that famous movie. So the breakfast room, which doubles as a wine-and-cheese lounge in the evenings (and has free treats around all day) is called Rick’s Café. Some nights there’s free piano music ("Play it again, Sam!"). Rooms (small, but what else is new in New York?) are equipped with rattan furniture, ceiling fans, and wooden blinds for that 1940s hideaway-in-Morocco atmosphere. And the building offers two outdoor areas, a rooftop deck and a second-floor courtyard, so that you can enjoy the sunshine without having to deal with the madding crowds of Times Square (which is just down the block). Did I mention that most of the staff seem to have as sweet a temperament as Ingrid Bergman (translation: Service is top-notch).
