Fully renovated in the fall of 2023, the Sonesta’s room aren’t overly large (I’d call them medium by New  Jersey standards), but they’re quite spiffy, with a lot of extras you don’t often get across the river in New York City, like full-sized refrigerators, usable kitchens, real desks, actual closets and good quality mattresses. Only some rooms have river views, and those that do overlook the light rail tracks, meaning guests have to weigh vistas against noise (and that can be significant, depending on the placement of your room, as there’s a curve in the tracks which causes the train wheels to squeal). The hotel has a well-equipped gym, laundry machines that are free to use, and a massive cabinet where guests can borrow slow cookers, air fryers and other gadgets, just in case they need to cook Thanksgiving in their rooms. The staff are genuinely caring, another big plus. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to both the PATH and the ferry.
