This midtown property is themed for (and partly owned by) Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo—and that’s proved a definite lure to the largely European clientele who come here. Even if you’re not into futbol, the sporty touches here are good fun: lobby lights that take their inspiration from soccer balls, elevator-facing walls that resemble AstroTurf, carpeting patterned with Ronaldo’s signature, and little plastic goalies on guest-room walls to be used as coat hangers. And it’s not just soccer being celebrated: Handsome, stop-motion sports photos adorn all the rooms, paying homage to a number of different sports. As for the rooms—they’d be tiny in any other American city, but here they’re a hair larger than normal, with high-quality mattresses.
