The name stands for “Please Don’t Tell” and is meant to speak to the exclusivity of this bar, which hides in the back of a hot dog stand (you enter through a hidden door in the old-fashioned phone booth—no, really!); and requires a reservation. The owners say it’s because they don’t want an over-crowded bar, so once the seats and stools are spoken for (the reservations line opens at 3pm), they turn would-be patrons away. It’s a lot of rigramarole to get a drink, I admit, but the cocktails here are so unusual and tasty (many created on-site from liquor that’s been specially doctored in-house), and the scene so urbane once you’re in, well, it’s worth it. And the bar snacks—high-quality hot dogs and tater tots—hit the spot.
