Stonewall Inn
Here is the bar where it all started back in June 1969—the gay revolution that launched the global Gay Pride movement.
Today, a mixed crowd—old and young, male and female, beautiful and fabulous—makes this an easy place to begin a tour of NYC queer history. Be sure to also duck over to the park across the street (with its statues and plaques), and the exhibition center a bit east of here. Everything but the bar is part of the National Park Service. There's no admissions charge.
Then, duck in to the Stonewall Inn to be part of the legend, and stay for one of the rotating theme nights or upstairs dance parties. All are welcome.
