LR was an immediate hit, one of the hardest reservations in town to nab. Accomplished Italian cooking is one of the reasons why: luxe crudo plates (like sashimi but Mediterranean), pasta with such unusual toppings as charcoal pumpkin and hazelnut agrodolce, and meats and fish roasted and sauced to perfection. The other reason is a mélange of elements: a lavish, high-ceilinged, custom-built space; one of the savviest cocktail menus in town; and a staff that seems to love the nightly party they’re hosting.
