Nice’s brand-new photography exhibition space houses world-beating photography displays. Spectacles have included homages to Riviera photographer Jean Gilletta, Paris chronicler Brassaï‎, as well as images from Nice in the roaring 1920s. The Théâtre also held an acclaimed retrospective of National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry, whose most captivating image was of a green-eyed Afghan refugee girl taken in 1984. In 2018, the venue hosted a show on Franco Fontana, the Italian photographer whose color-rich work has been used in advertising campaigns by Fiat, Versace, and Canon.
