Théâtre de la Photographie et de l’Image
Nice’s brand-new photography exhibition space houses world-beating photography displays. Spectacles have included homages to Riviera photographer Jean Gilletta, Paris chronicler Brassaï, as well as images from Nice in the roaring 1920s. The Théâtre also held an acclaimed retrospective of National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry, whose most captivating image was of a green-eyed Afghan refugee girl taken in 1984. In 2018, the venue hosted a show on Franco Fontana, the Italian photographer whose color-rich work has been used in advertising campaigns by Fiat, Versace, and Canon.
