Head to the center of town and rue du Général-Perrier, rue des Marchands, rue du Chapître, and the pedestrian rue de l’Aspic and rue de la Madeleine. A Friday flea market runs from 8am to 1pm in boulevard Jean Jaurès in the town center and a daily food market daily is in Les Halles.

If you have a sweet tooth, go to any pastry shop and ask for the regional almond-based cookies called croquants, or visit Maison Villaret, 13 Rue de la Madeleine (www.maison-villaret.com), specialists in croquants since 1775. Santons, wood or clay figurines sculpted into characters from Provençal country life and often used at Christmas, can be found at Boutique Provençale, 10 pl. de la Maison Carré (www.laboutiqueprovencale.fr; tel. 04-66-67-81-71).
