Antiques -- The North Fork is an old seafaring world, full of antiques shops and galleries. Step into some of these musty old shops and start digging. Most towns have one or two stores, but Greenport and Southold (and to a lesser extent, Jamesport) have some of the best selections on the North Fork. You'll find a wealth of stained-glass lamps and handmade furnishings at Lydia's Antiques and Stained Glass, 215 Main St., Greenport (tel. 631/477-1414). Jan Davis Antiques, 45395 Main Rd., Southold (tel. 631/765-2379), set in a country store that dates to the 1850s, sells antiques and collectible dolls. Three Sisters Antiques, 1550 Main Rd., Jamesport (tel. 631/722-5980), specializes in linens, postcards, and paper, but you'll also find glass, china, kitchenware, books, and artwork. Kapell's Antiques, 400 Front St., Greenport (tel. 631/477-0100), is the place for early whaling and marine items. And Pastimes Antiques, 56025 Main Rd., Southold (tel. 631/765-1221), has five rooms of porcelain, cut glass, and sterling silver.
