Perched romantically above the river, Nürnberg’s largest historical wine house has been in business for 650 years, serving carp, pork knuckle, and other hearty and filling Franconian fare, accompanied by more than 100 wines. Candlelight and dark paneling set the mood inside, and a fountain provides soothing sound effects for summertime dining on the terrace. Seasonal specialties include a lot of game in winter, though the stags’ heads and other mounted beasts might steer you toward another choice. Reservations recommended.
