The high-rise Park Shore stands out as one of Waikiki's acceptable affordable options because of its excellent location at the eastern end of the Waikiki strip facing Kapiolani Park with unobstructed views of Diamond Head in the distance. That is, if you get an ocean view room—many rooms, especially even numbered ones in the low teens, face another hotel and see nothing pretty. Rooms are relatively recently renovated and although their modest size was inherited from the midcentury building, they're nice for the price point (no minibar, but they have mini fridges). The small pool is on a third-floor deck, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, including a Starbucks downstairs. You only have to cross the street to enjoy the beach or the Honolulu Zoo, and several important bus lines serve it. It isn't a full-service resort but it's nice to have a place you can afford that won't overwhelm you with crowds.
