If you are looking for a true Jamaican nightclub, Amnesia—going strong since 1989—is probably the safest bet for tourists—though things can get a bit wild here (especially during the occasional Muddy Mondayz chocolate syrup wrestling contest). Still, it can be refreshing to get away from the sanitized resort scene and get sweaty dancing with the locals to reggae, soca, and hip-hop. Lines can be long at the witching hour, and there's a weapons check at security. Cover charge varies, from nothing up to J$600.
