In 2014, the island’s Observer paper dubbed Christopher’s the Best Kept Secret in Jamaica (and, more tellingly, in the People’s Choice category it ranked sixth on the entire island). The tables on the open verandah overlook the lush tropical grounds of Hermosa Cove resort to the sea.

The kitchen is run by Jamaican-born, New York-raised Chef Conroy Arnold (no, his name is not Christopher; the restaurant was named in honor of Columbus), who trained at Nobu and other top kitchens before returning to Jamaica to marry international flair and style to Jamaican dishes and the freshest of local ingredients. Cooking with an oven stoked with pimento or mango wood, drizzling dishes with Scotch bonnet vinaigrette, or bedding them in a smoky tomato sauce, Chef Conroy comes up with such delectables as seasoned bread-crumb crusted red snapper with celery and salsa, jerk chicken with five herb dressing, smoked pork ribs, osso buco that falls off the bone, goat curry, and a julienne of smoked marlin with pineapple, tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, and cilantro.
