Let’s be frank: This is just an EconoLodge that got an extreme makeover. It still has the creaky bones of a motel, with small bathrooms, exterior corridors, and an echoing central pool. Yet because of its renovation, and those up-to-date mellow colors and cool laminate floors, it’s one of the fresher faces on I-Drive and consequently a good value. Double queen rooms sleep up to 4 and have fridges and microwaves, and the location makes it easy to walk to a slate of cheap places to eat. But it’s not a “resort” by any stretch. It’s an upgraded motel, but a nice one at that. One of its buildings was struck by lightning and caught fire in July of 2015—the others were not burned; check ahead to see where repairs stand.
