For a city that’s about fake Mediterranean-style country clubs and golf resorts, the Grand Bohemian, with an eclectic urban design style that’s part hunting lodge and part commedia dell’arte, is welcome, which is why it’s popular for weddings, brunch, and the like. Rooms are velvety and stylish but could use a refresh—while comfortable, they’re also stuck in an age when only a couple outlets would do—but they’re still the most interesting you’ll find in the downtown area. An LA–style terrace keeps sunbathers above city traffic, but the pool deck sometimes closes for private events. It’s easy to walk to the nightspots of downtown and the Amway Center.
