It would be a shame to come to Florida without tasting authentic Cuban food. Disney only does touristy Cuban, but this modest family-run place just outside Disney’s eastern side door is hosting the real thing—tender bistec palomilla (thin-pounded steak with sautéed onion), aromatic congri (red beans and rice), and specials such as red snapper in garlic sauce. For dessert, the milk-soaked tres leches cake makes you wish you could start again for another round. It also does pressed sandwiches, a Cuban standard. Beware the green hot sauce—it’ll knock you back. The decor is plain (cream walls, reproduction travel posters), but there’s heartiness in the food.
